Description
Darjeeling Singbulli First Flush 2021 is a high grade (FTGFOP1) tea that delivers all the best traits that First Flush Darjeelings are famous for with a lovely verdant floral flavour. This lot is from the April 2021 harvest.
Singbulli Tea Estate was established by British planters in 1924 and is located near the town of Mirik, in the Mirik Valley. The garden altitude ranges from approximately 400 to 1,300 metres. Singbulli Tea Estate produces some fabulous teas and is especially famous for First Flush clonal teas. Clonal tea trees are not grown from seeds but rather are hybrids cloned for specific qualities. This results in clonal trees producing some amazing teas as the growers are able to select specific plants with certain particularly attractive qualities.
This Darjeeling Singbulli First Flush has neat, medium oxidised tippy leaf. It produces a bright liquor with good clarity and a light mineral aroma. The smooth taste is floral and verdant with creamy and fruity notes. It has a lightly drying floral aspect that contributes to the mineral flavours of this tea. This is nicely balanced by lightly sweet fruity top notes. The aftertaste continues to deliver a more mineral aspect, finishing on a zesty honey note. Overall this is a very light, smooth Darjeeling, without much dryness or astringency. Perfect to enjoy on its own or as part of an afternoon tea.
Darjeeling Singbulli First Flush black tea is best brewed at 90°C for 3-4 minutes according to your taste. It can also stand at least one more infusion.
