Description

Darjeeling Goomtee First Flush is a lightly oxidised First Flush Darjeeling from Goomtee Tea Estate. The tippy leaves produce a smooth liquor with a mineral profile and floral, creamy notes. We source this tea via a specialist UK wholesaler who deals with the estate directly. This crop is the Spring 2020 harvest.

Goomtee Tea Estate was first planted by a British planter named Henry Lennox in 1899. The garden largely produces traditional orthodox Darjeeling from clonal China bushes planted at an elevation of 900-1,800 metres. Located in Kurseong, its famous neighbours include Giddapahar and Jungpana Tea Estates.

Darjeeling Goomtee First Flush has tippy leaves that have an attractive mixed colour and a verdant aroma. It produces a light golden liquor with good clarity and brightness. The classic First Flush profile has a mineral character with fresh floral notes. The smooth liquor has a hint of fruitiness and a lightly creamy mouthfeel. The taste then progresses to a lasting aftertaste that has more creamy, mineral and stony notes. This is a classic First Flush Darjeeling that delivers a smooth and balanced flavour that is enjoyable on its own or as part of an afternoon tea.

We suggest brewing parameters of 90°C for 3-4 minutes according to your taste, brewing multiple times.
