Description

Darjeeling Chamong First Flush 2021 is a high grade (FTGFOP1) tea that delivers all the best traits that First Flush Darjeelings are famous for with a full mineral flavour and a fine balance between sweet and tannic notes. This lot is from April 2021 harvest.

Chamong Tea Estate is located in Jorebunglow Sukhiapokhri of the Darjeeling Sadar subdivision of Darjeeling District. The tea garden was planted by the British in 1871 and ranges in altitude between 1,150 and 1,850 metres. The unusual name of the garden is derived from a name of a local bird called chamoo in the local Lepcha language. Chamong Tea Estate produces tea to organic standards and much of the estate is left wild, boasting a large diversity of local floral and fauna.

This Darjeeling Chamong First Flush has a mixed leaf with a delicate fruity aroma emitting from the wet leaves. It produces a light golden liquor with good clarity and a mild aroma. The taste starts off smooth, gradually becoming lightly tannic and drying. The overall mineral flavour has sweet fruity and drying floral notes. But it does strike a very good balance between sweetness and the light astringency. There is a bit more dryness on the aftertaste, making this complex tea a perfect companion for a fine afternoon tea setting.

Darjeeling Chamong First Flush black tea is best brewed at 90°C for 3-4 minutes according to your taste. It can also stand at least one more infusion.
