Our Menghai Shu Pu-erh Cake (\u52d0\u6d77\u5bab\u5ef7\u719f\u997c) is a Gong Ting ‘Palace’ grade ripe pu-erh that comes in 100g round cakes. These were produced by Langhe Tea Factory (\u90ce\u6cb3\u8336\u5382) located in Menghai County, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. This cake was produced in 2017 from leaves harvested in April 2017 in a process that follows a slow tea ripening method that is normally employed at this Factory. This results in a mellow and smooth flavour with fruity, woody and nutty notes.<\/p>\n
These Menghai Shu Pu-erh Cakes come from a small production of 100g cakes, which is a convenient size for exploring pu-erh teas. The cakes are wrapped in paper and simply marked \u666e\u6d31\u5bae\u5ef7 (Pu-erh Gong Ting). The appearance of the cakes is very pleasing and quality of the leaves is evident. As this is a Gong Ting (\u5bab\u5ef7), or Palace, grade of tea the leaves have a fine appearance and are of great quality, producing a strong yet balanced ripe pu-erh.<\/p>\n
When the cake is unwrapped, it releases a pleasant woody aroma. Brewing this tea, it is evident that the leaves are small but fine and tippy. The liquor produced has a deep, dark colour with a red tint with good clarity. The aroma is woody and nutty. The brilliantly smooth flavours are deep but without any astringency or bitterness. It has notes that are woody, nutty and mildly fruity. The aftertaste is long-lasting but clean and smooth. This is a great example of a nicely balanced Menghai ripe pu-erh.<\/p>\n
We suggest brewing parameters of 90-98\u00b0C for 3-5 minutes according to your taste, brewing multiple times. For best results, brew Gong Fu style. When brewed Gong Fu style we suggest briefly washing the leaves.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

The whole cakes are approximately 100g in weight and come in our usual handy zip pouches for easy storage. <\/p>\n We also offer samples that are 1\/10th of the cake and are around 10g in weight.
