This area is the origin of this fine tea and this region still produces some of the best Bi Luo Chun green tea. This particular batch is a pre-Qing Ming 20 March 2021 harvest.
This tea is part of our new 2021 Rare & Limited tea selection. Due to high demand, especially locally in China, there is an extremely limited quantity of this particular fine tea available every year. Once this batch is sold out, we will not be able to bring it back in stock until next spring.
Bi Luo Chun is one of China’s 10 famous teas and is regarded by some as one of the best green teas from China. This particular early spring version from Dongting is particularly refined as it consists of uniform young spring leaves. This translates to a classic aromatic liquor with a complex, yet balanced taste.
The green and silver tippy leaves of Ming Qian Dong Ting Bi Luo Chun green tea have a distinctive twisted shape, resembling a small snail. The dry leaves feature a characteristically strong aroma. It produces a green-yellow liquor with a green floral aroma. The smooth herbaceous profile has a smooth flavour with vegetal, nutty and peppery notes. The flavours start on the sweeter side, then slowly progressing to a more savoury and lightly spicy edge. The aftertaste is lasting, a little tart and a touch drying.
We suggest brewing at 80°C for 2-3 minutes according to your taste. It can be brewed around 2-3 times depending on your preference.
